The attraction of Le Marche
...the green region bordered by blue.
A beautiful green agricultural region in the centre of Italy, full of History and Art, a place of ancient traditions and hospitality.
Magnificent sandy and rocky coastlines of great natural interest (Park of Monte Conero, San Bartolo Park) bathed by the Adriatic Sea.
Unspoiled green mountains characteristic of the inland areas (Monte Catria and the Monti Sibillini park) hide incredible natural beauties (Grotte caves) di Frasassi and the Gola (Gorge del Furlo).

The characteristic landscape of this region is the extensive hilly area almost entirely covered by a multi-coloured patchwork of cultivated fields where ancient villages and mediaeval castles spring up. These allow the tourist to travel back in history to the ancient civilisations of the Romans and the Picenes who were established in this area. Along the River Cesano valley there is an itinerary full of surprises: just 3 kms from Agriturismo "Villa Beatrice" is Mondavio, a mediaeval jewel. Its castle, Rocca Roveresca, is a real military work of art by Francesco di Giorgio Martini from Siena.

On the South side of the Cesano valley seven kms from our country house is Corinaldo, a mediaeval town surrounded by imposing walls amongst the best preserved in Le Marche.
Proceeding towards the mountains you find Fratte Rosa, with its splendid Convent, which is famous for terracotta work. You can also visit Castelleone di Suasa built near the site of the ancient Roman city of Suasa, now an archeological site of great interest.
Don’t miss Pergola with its heritage of golden bronze statues, the imposing castle at Frontone and the famous Camaldolite Monastery at Fonte Avellana at the foot of Monte Catria.

Just as interesting from a cultural point of view are the nearby towns along the coast which attract lovers of the sea and night life. Senigallia with its velvet beach, Fano an ancient Roman city, Pesaro capital of the province and birthplace of Gioacchino Rossini who is celebrated every year with the famous "Rossini Opera Festival".
Finally, Urbino with its splendid Palazzo Ducale, one of the most well known cities of Art.
If you appreciate good food the cuisine in Le Marche offers a variety of excellent dishes made with genuine ingredients and cooked following traditional methods, accompanied by excellent white and red wines (Verdicchio, Rosso Conero, Vernaccia etc.)
